Online Inquiry Channels Further Expand for Information Subjects

In order to do a good job in credit reporting service to support the prevention and control of COVID-19, since March 2020, the Credit Reference Center, the People’s Bank of China (“CCRC”), together with relevant institutions, has expanded the online inquiry channels for information subjects in an orderly manner. Pilot credit report inquiry was provided successively via online banking on laptops and phones and China UnionPay QuickPass. At present, there are 12 national commercial banks offering online banking inquiry service for consumer credit report, and 11 commercial banks offering independent inquiry service for commercial credit report. The pilot inquiry service for credit report via China UnionPay QuickPass was launched in 8 cities including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Nanning, Changsha and Fuzhou on January 8 this year.


From January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021, 6.229 million credit reports were sent to consumers via online banking channels, accounting for 23.5% of the inquiries by information subjects in the same period, of which China Unionpay QuickPass provided 474,000 consumer credit report inquiries; 221,000 commercial credit reports were sent to data subjects via online banking channels, accounting for 26.1% of the independent inquiries by enterprises in the same period.


Based on the smooth operation of the pilot service in the early stage, consumer credit report inquiry service via the China Unionpay QuickPass was extended to 31 provincial capitals and another 5 municipalities with independent planning status, including Dalian, Qingdao, Ningbo, Xiamen and Shenzhen, on March 30, providing online credit report inquiry service for more bank card holders.
